The Shopkeeper
©2005 Khrysso Heart LeFey
The shopkeeper flits about his shop,
arranging this and that,
fingers dancing over his wares
deftly as a technician's,
gently as a nurse's,
knowingly as a lover's.
The shop is cozy and eccentric:
irresistible as fresh donuts, it draws you in
with color and shape and texture
deep as a mystic's soul,
playful as a child's imagination,
elegant as a pharaoh's court.
The love in there is palpable,
surrounding you like incense from Bombay,
and looking at your surroundings,
you can't be sure
if he's enchanted them
or they him.
The shopkeeper is magical,
clever as Rumpelstiltskin,
gathering souls once scattered like straws,
entwining them together 'til they sparkle,
a golden thread for weaving
throughout the fabric of their wider world.
He is a simple man, the shopkeeper,
Going about his business, being, letting be.
His eyes are merry, wise
with knowledge of what he is about,
a secret that he need not advertise,
and yet is just as glad if you find out. |
What is a Virtual Faire?
By Christa Landon
A Virtual Faire is a page that carries links to selected
merchants, who are part of the Pagan community. These are vendors such as
you might find at a Pagan regional festival.
The occult book shop was the first Pagan institution to
open its doors to the public. While mass marketers with no loyalty to
our community or understanding of our needs are undercutting small
bookstores everywhere, the occult book shop can survive IF we Pagans are
willing to support it.
Commercial chains like
Barnes and Nobles and Borders can save you a little, and might be more
convenient, but you pay for it with smaller selection.
When you buy from a bookseller who is PART OF the Pagan community, who knows
your interests and needs, and whose loyalty is to the community, you come
home with more than a good book.
You come home with the knowledge that you are supporting our own
institutions.

The merchants and service providers on this page contribute to the support of this
e-zine through reciprocal publicity or other contributions. Your patronage is one way to make this publication sustainable, without pop-up adds or mass
marketing.
Please let the merchants know you saw their banners here.
Each banner should be an active link. Please report all broken links. |

The
relevant equation is:
knowledge = power = energy = matter = mass;
Therefore,
a good bookshop is just a genteel Black Hole that knows how to read.
